Along with the indoctrination

at Sharia adherence mosques, is the limitless access to malevolent missives and recruitment taking place by the minute on social media. Elton Simpson tweeted out a pledge of solidarity to ISIS just prior to opening fire in Garland as did Tashfeen Malik before launching a fusillade of rounds at victims in San Bernardino.

A bulletin issued by the FBI registers concern that, “The large number of social media postings by US-based ISIL supporters is challenging for investigators in differentiating those supporters focused only on promoting pro-ISIL rhetoric, which may be protected speech, [versus] detecting those prepared to engage in violence on the group’s behalf.”

The FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and National Counterterrorism Center warned of an extremely high volume of terrorist “chatter” on pro-ISIS social media. “There is so much activity that our intelligence agencies are having a hard time keeping up with it all… and a great deal of the social media noise is coming from within our borders.”

There are so many examples of insidious, divisive and incendiary rhetoric flowing from the pulpits and lecterns of American mosques and from their online appendages in social media, that it would take hundreds of pages to document them all.

The FBI is on the lookout worldwide for a former member of the same Boston mosque and ‘Islamic Cultural Center’ that the Tsarnaev brothers, the Boston Marathon bombers attended.  Ahmad Abousamra, a dual American-Syrian citizen, who ABC News reports, was born in France in 1981, has been charged with aiding ISIS with their social media and video campaign and recruiting efforts.

Peter Neumann, Director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) descibes the nature of the efforts of such as Abousamra.

“ISIS understands very well that in order for an act of terrorism to be effective, it needs to actually terrorize people. The act of communication that follows the act of violence is almost as important as the act of violence itself.”

In February, the FBI arrested three suspects in Brooklyn of conspiring to coordinate terror efforts with ISIS.

Part of the government’s evidence was – according to Huffington Post, an Uzbek-language Jihadi website that included postings traced by authorities to a Brooklyn address of which one, stated: “I am in USA now but we don’t have any arms. But is it possible to commit ourselves as dedicated martyrs anyway while here? What I’m saying is, to shoot Obama and then get shot ourselves, will it do? That will strike fear in the hearts of the infidels.”

FBI Director James Comey has been warning for months that the Islamic State has leveraged social media urging people worldwide and here at home to “kill, kill, kill”“The Joint Terrorism Task Forces that we have set up all around this country are in some ways more important today than they were at 9/11 because of the nature of this threat.”

Comey said that in general it was “highly unlikely” that federal agents are going to be the first to notice “someone acting in strange ways” on social media, at religious institutions, at educational institutions and in the community.

Although a bill has been introduced in the Senate, proposing to require broadband providers to alert law enforcement to terror messages, the basic problem will need to be dealt with at a deeper level. Exhortations to Jihad need to be dealt with as criminal matters

A partial solution to the growing threat of incidents like that which unfolded in San Bernardino involves the criminalization of Jihad sermons as acts of sedition and incitement.

Free speech, in terms of Constitutional jurisprudence, does not sanction the right to encourage others to commit felony assault and murder against one’s fellows. If anyone doubts this, they are welcome to go on a social media site and propose that the President of the United States be assassinated – which some of those arrested by the FBI have done. It will become apparent that there are indeed boundaries. We need to demand that the boundaries be rigorously enforced.

In terms of the activity seen in Islamist channels on the Internet, Facebook and Twitter, Federal law classifies it as a facet of terrorism. 8 USC 1182, under the definition of terrorism, includes this prohibition:

(V) The solicitation of any individual for membership in a terrorist organization, terrorist government, or to engage in a terrorist activity.

In the important study, “Sharia and Violence in American Mosques” (Kedar M, Yerushalmi D. The Middle East Quarterly, Summer 2011, Vol. 18, No. 3, pp. 59-72), the author discloses:

A strong correlation between the presence of severe violence-promoting literature and mosques featuring written, audio, and video materials that actually promoted such acts. By promotion of jihad, the study included literature encouraging worshipers to engage in terrorist activity, to provide financial support to jihadists, and to promote the establishment of a caliphate in the United States. These materials also explicitly praised acts of terror against the West; praised symbols or role models of violent jihad; promoted the use of force, terror, war, and violence to implement the Sharia; emphasized the inferiority of non-Muslim life; promoted hatred and intolerance toward non-Muslims or notional Muslims; and endorsed inflammatory materials with anti-U.S. views

The cultural Marxists see Islam and its antagonistic proponents through rose colored glasses, especially due to the fact that it is an insurgent movement that can be employed as a proxy to attack and tear down the traditional American totems of Judeo-Christian values. William Meyer, writing in Pipeline News, describes Islam as:

a politically driven quasi-religion, which is defiantly revolutionary. Grounded upon the Shari’a [Islamic religious law] outside of ritual, it’s very much about political power, conquest and consequently, dominion. This has been the case with Islam as it has been normatively practiced since its inception in the seventh century, with only brief periods of quiescence.

Progressives probably also see in the militant Sharia movement, what one of its most influential advocates, Pakistani writer Abul A’la Mawdudi [Maududi], saw in it, when he wrote about the convergence of revolution and the revival of the struggle for Islamic world dominance:

“Islam is a revolutionary ideology and a revolutionary practice, which aims at destroying the social order of the world totally and rebuilding it from scratch…and jihad [holy war] denotes the revolutionary struggle. Islam is a revolutionary doctrine and system that overturns governments. It seeks to overturn the whole universal social order…and establish its structure anew…Islam seeks the world. It is not satisfied by a piece of land but demands the whole universe…Islamic Jihad is at the same time offensive and defensive…The Islamic party does not hesitate to utilize the means of war to implement its goal.”

Of the universal obligation of all Muslims to pursue Jihad, A’la Mawdudi asserts:

“Jihad is a part of this overall defense of Islam…in the language of the Divine Law, this word is used specifically for the war that is waged solely in the name of God against those who perpetrate oppression as enemies of Islam. This supreme sacrifice is the responsibility of all Muslims…jihad is as much a primary duty as are daily prayers or fasting. One who avoids it is a sinner. His every claim to being a Muslim is doubtful. He is plainly a hypocrite who fails in the tests of sincerity and his acts of worship are a sham, a worthless hollow show of devotion…”

Mawdudi’s texts are prominently available and disseminated at a decided majority of American mosques. There is no question at this point that a significant plurality of congregants are being indoctrinated in the call for an overthrow, necessarily violent in nature, of our system of government.

In their report “The Mosque Exposed” , S. Solomon and E. Almaqdisi remark: “The mosque is the command and control center of Islam.”

Vijay Kumar, an immigrant from India to America, describes the mosque in similar terms, and adds from personal experience and perspective:

“A mosque in the United States is a command and control center of a foreign political and military state that seeks the overthrow of our government, and an Imam in a mosque is a political and military representative of a foreign state that calls for the overthrow of the United States.”

As part of their investigation of Abdulhakim Muhammad, the Muslim convert who shot a soldier at the military recruiting station in Little Rock, the FBI is examining his connections to a Cleveland, Ohio mosque, the Omar Ibn El Khattab Mosque, that Muhammad attended from 2006 to 2007. They are interested in that mosque because it was also the mosque that a handful of convicted terror plotters (Christopher PaulIyman Faris and Nuradin Abdi), attended and because it is a destination of foreigners with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and other jihad connected organizations.

Naturally, the leadership at the Omar Ibn El Khattab Mosque, claims to know nothing of any of this. But the Imam, Dr. Hany Saqr, was identified in exhibits submitted by the Department of Justice in a recent terrorism finance trial in Texas as being one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America. What a shock!

Even the French government has determined that the public menace factor of extremist mosques outweighs the nation’s commitment to tolerance. France has shut down three mosques and four informal Muslim prayer rooms out of concern that they were contributing to Islamic radicalization, the French interior minister announced Wednesday. That is likely to be just for starters. Some observers noted that up to 160 mosques could be shuttered according to the same criteria.

Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, told the National Assembly that the action was necessary after the deadly terror attacks in and around Paris on Nov. 13, which left 130 people dead and hundreds wounded. “There will be complete firmness against those that preach hatred in France,” he said.

Some have criticized the NYPD’s Terrorism Enterprise Investigations, but when you consider that terror operatives frequently operate within the setting of the mosque and the internal networks they contain, the vigilance is more than justified.  If we have to (through legal processes), shut down Sharia compliant mosques in this country in order to root out the toxic influences they foster, then it must be done and the elected officials must have the political will to insist on it.

To best portray the role of the mosque in the aspirations of Muslims for dominance of society, is this from “The Soldier’s Prayer,” written (in 1912) by Turkish nationalist poet Ziya Gokalp

The minarets are our bayonets, the domes our helmets, the mosques our barracks and the faithful our army.
